The egg diet plan - how to lose weight on an egg diet?

Egg diet plan for weight loss

The Mayo Clinic treats obesity and has created an original program for this purpose. The motto of the Mayo clinic is "if you want to lose weight, eat eggs and salad". The Mayo diet, so called by the clinic in which it was developed, is used for the treatment of obesity and is based on two products: vegetables and eggs. A large amount of drinks helps to cleanse the body, and the protein contained in eggs accelerates the metabolism.

Thanks to the egg diet, you can lose up to 5 kg of weight in a few days. Creators recommend it for two weeks. However, most doctors and nutritionists believe that this way you can only eat for 3-5 days.

There are several versions of the egg diet, but all of them are combined by the fact that eggs are the primary source of protein during egg treatment. Eggs contain a lot of proteins, and are considered to be an example of a full-value protein - they contain all animal amino acids and are absorbed almost 100%.

Full-fledged protein accelerates metabolism and thus fat burning. It should be remembered, however, that it contains minimal carbohydrates, but a huge dose of fats - one egg contains the total daily cholesterol requirement of 250 mg. The daily intake of cholesterol significantly exceeds the recommended standards for a healthy person and can have harmful effects on health.

In addition, avoiding carbohydrates in the diet leads to a metabolic disorder, manifesting itself in problems with concentration, sleepiness, lack of strength to perform everyday activities such as work or learning.

Vegetables are the second component of Mayo's diet. They are in a way a partial supplementation of eggs, because they contain valuable vitamins and minerals which influence the course of metabolism, immunity of the body and a number of life processes.

Moreover, the fibre contained in vegetables has a positive influence on the so-called appendicicular movement of the intestine, i. e. on its peristalsis. Additionally, the fibre swells in combination with water, removing the feeling of hunger.

Mayo's entire diet cycle lasts for two weeks, and we eat almost the same daily for lunch, breakfast and dinner, making the diet extremely monotonous. Eat 6 eggs and drink 2 litres of water, herbal teas, coffee or weak tea every day. We avoid products such as salt, which retains water in the body, sugar, pulses, legumes, alcohol, fatty meats, soft drinks and potatoes.

Lettuce and other light vegetables can be eaten without restrictions, but the amount of fruit is limited to two portions per day. At the last meal, instead of eggs, you can eat a piece of chicken breast meat or lean fish, of course with vegetables. The diet can be used for two weeks, where in the second week you can add bread to the menu.

Rules of the egg diet

1. Approximately 4-6 eggs should be eaten during the day, only hard boiled. They are not allowed to cook for more than 10 minutes.

2. Drink about 3 litres of liquids per day, such as mineral water, herbal teas, fruit teas, weak tea or coffee (each drink of your choice)

3. Salt and sugar should not be used

4. Full-fat products, legumes, fruits, fruit, alcohol, carbonated beverages, confectionery and potatoes may not be consumed.

The egg diet - is it worth it?

On the plus side, it is quite high in fat-soluble vitamins - A, D, E, K. This is one of the few pluses of this diet.

First and foremost, a hen's egg consists of an average of 10 per cent fat, making it very fattening. In addition, it contains cholesterol which is harmful to heart health. The effect of cholesterol is to block the blood vessels in our body.

The result is blood clots, which can lead to congestive inertia and even death. In addition, the amount of eggs consumed according to the diet does not cover the need for carbohydrates and protein. Problems start after just two days - we become tired, have no strength to work or act.

The author of the diet even denies us coffee with sugar and milk for breakfast. The whole diet lasts roughly 2-3 weeks. After this period, it is almost certain that you will not be able to look at eggs. The lack of variety in the diet is its biggest drawback. It is obvious that everyone likes eggs, but not in such quantities!

An additional, significant downside, apart from the low richness of the diet, is that we only eat hard-boiled eggs. No scrambled, poached eggs! None of these things. The monothematic nature of the meals can get on our nerves quite quickly.

Another disadvantage is that only three meals per day are recommended, instead of a reasonable five smaller ones. Because of this schedule, it is hard to win over hunger and it can happen that we reach for a chocolate bar during the diet.

Advantages:

- high dietary vitamin content

Disadvantages:

- high amount of cholesterol in the diet

- low carbohydrate

- problems with absorption of ingredients - few micronutrients
Note: Everyone feels like eating an egg sometimes, but not everyone wants to eat it every day, for every meal. It raises cholesterol levels and can cause heart problems.
