Obesity among children is nowadays an increasing problem. Overweight children increase year by year, while obesity affects their health and well-being. It is worth considering how to prevent excessive weight gain in a child?


The basis is a balanced diet

In order to maintain a slim figure in a child, the regularity of meals is an important aspect. The child should eat them at a constant time of the day, while meals should be 4-5 per day. Breakfast in particular should not be overlooked and light protein products should be served. The most important elements in a child's diet should be:

  • protein,
  • carbohydrates,
  • fats
  • vitamins
  • minerals

Fruit and vegetables must not be forgotten either. The healthiest are seasonal ones, because they are fresh and contain the highest amount of vitamins and trace elements. It should be remembered, however, that they contain a significant amount of fructose, which may have a negative impact on the appetite of the child.

Limited sugar and salt


The children's menu should contain very little sugar and salt.  Thus, it is worth to exclude sweets and ready-made dishes, which are very salty and, what is more, contain a significant amount of harmful preservatives.

If the child eats a lot of sweets, not only does the appetite deteriorate, but also eats empty calories, which in turn results in rapid overweight. It is mandatory to give your child water. It has beneficial effect on removing toxins from the whole body and improving metabolism.
