High protein diet for weight loss - what it is and how to do it?

High protein diet for weight loss

The high protein diet is considered to be one of the most effective of diets to help with weight loss.

As well as ensuring fat loss, this diet is also designed to make people feel satiated. This makes it easier to limit food intake, as one simply feels full during this diet. However, as it is with diets, it should be done with your head, because any weight-loss measure, when not properly monitored, can do us more harm than good.

Health advice of any kind should be asked from professionals who are most familiar with diets. Never distribute diets on your own-without consultation.

What is a high protein diet?

The main idea behind a high protein diet, is to compose your meals so that they consist mostly of protein. There are different approaches to this diet, each varying in the amount of fats and carbohydrates consumed. One variation is the very popular Dukan diet. Its philosophy is based on excluding foods other than protein from the diet. The different types of diets may also differ in the type of protein consumed.

To whom is a high protein diet recommended?

It can be used by people who simply want to lose weight, or athletes who are keen to build muscle mass. Any health advice on this should be given by specialists, nutritionists, or doctors who will monitor us at each stage of the diet

Advantages and disadvantages of a high protein diet

Like any diet, this one too has its pros and cons. The pros include losing weight, sculpting the body and building muscle mass - so important for athletes. Unfortunately, consuming large quantities of protein weakens our kidneys and liver, causes constipation and vitamin and microelement deficiencies.

In some people, it can also cause sluggishness, irritability or distraction. Hence, when deciding on a diet, we should conduct it with caution, monitoring our health and, if in doubt, ask for health advice from professionals.
