Is weight loss healthy? 

Certainly, however, we have to say that the phenomenon of widespread weight loss, which we are dealing with, is not entirely healthy. This is because it often makes us lose weight very quickly, lose weight without reason, we grasp any way that seems to be attractive. Unfortunately, this is a very inappropriate approach, which very often causes us to lose out on our health and also to fail to achieve what we care most about.

Effective weight loss

When it comes to effective weight loss, it should be effective first and foremost, and it should be with our health in mind. In this respect, it is certainly a very important element to reach for healthy products in order to implement physical activity in one's daily life. A very good solution here is to go to a dietitian, who is able to choose the best diet for us individually, which in our case will certainly be the best solution and we will be able to talk about the greatest effectiveness. It is not, therefore, an art to lose a few pounds quickly, but to maintain it for much longer, so that we can talk here about the healthiest, most effective way to lose weight.

A diet that's right for you

Everyone has their own preference for weight loss, and so we will not be able to say that there are no universal ways to lose weight that would have the same effect on every person. If we lose kilograms, we should therefore focus on health, on maintaining good health.

Weight loss - truths and myths

Everyone who has tried to lose weight has their own thoughts and experience connected with it. Many people repeat and believe the statements they have heard from others, and many of these statements have a very broad social impact. But a lot of things about weight loss are just myths. Losing weight is a very individual matter, but some things are not true in every case. One of the myths of slimming is that light products accelerate weight loss.

Eating these products reduces the amount of fat, but they contain more sugar or sweetener. This has the same effect. Another myth is that the meal times influence weight loss. This partly affects digestive processes, but fats and sugars eaten at midday and midnight work in the same way. We often treat slimming as a several-day or weekly sacrifice after which you can return to your normal diet.

Unfortunately, this is another myth, which makes the jojo effect so common during weight loss. The last myth refuted in this article is the myth of bread. Bread does not cause excessive fattening, and a good whole grain bread helps even lose weight and is very healthy.

The history of ayurveda is 5,000 years old. It originated mainly as medical knowledge, but actually has ready-made prescriptions for all areas of life.

It tells you how to live and what to eat to be healthy, beautiful and happy. Like macrobiotics, the 5 transformations diet is about lifestyle.

The cosmos is energy

In the simplest terms, everything that surrounds man is made up of three energies (known as doshas): vata (air and space), pitta (fire and water) and kapha (earth and water). An imbalance between them leads to various ailments, such as headaches, stomach problems or depression. 

It is quite simple to balance the levels of these energies. Ayurveda has several ways of doing this: from knowledge-intensive healing practices, to massages, exercises, meditations and a proper diet.

To get your world in order, you should first get to know your ayurvedic type that you were born with. You can choose between vata, pitta and kapha. The easiest thing to remember is that these are the three elements: air, fire and earth.

Air is lightness, movement, coolness, dryness.
Fire is heat, intensity, liveliness.
Earth - calmness, slowness, endurance.

Reality is not as simple as we expect it to be, which is why there are actually mainly mixed types (with a predominance of one of the doshas, e.g. vata-pitta, pitta-kapha, etc.). Also, under the influence of an imbalance between energies, you may think you are a different type. Therefore, when you get down to assessing yourself, focus on what you are by nature, what you used to be (this also applies to your physical appearance - you could have always been fat, skinny, but put on weight after pregnancy, menopause, puberty).

The way you eat has a huge impact on your health. If you eat one particular type of food for 2-3 months, your body will start to rebel. The worst is when you overdo it with foods of the same 'design' as you. This is because in ayurveda, there is a rule: similar fuels similar. 

When a stable kapha eats too much heavy food, such as mouldy cheese, she will become sluggish, may develop chest pains, elevated cholesterol, breathing problems. However, many problems can be avoided by changing your diet as soon as you notice the first signs of ill health.

Eliminate then from your diet foods with a similar "character" to you. You don't have to learn their list by heart, look for similarities. E.g. kapha foods are mainly heavy, milky and mealy foods, fried foods, sweets, while pitta foods are spicy, stimulating foods, e.g. coffee, alcohol. Vata is, hot drinks and salty and sour foods, sweet fruits, avocados, coconuts, bananas, grapes, oranges, as well as brown rice and red cabbage.

As soon as a white residue appears on your tongue, it means you need to get down to a cleansing diet.

Where to start?

- Change your diet to one that is easy to digest. Foods with mung beans and cooked vegetables and fruit (raw are hard to digest) will be good.

- Use spices that improve digestion: ginger, cumin, coriander, turmeric, basil.

- Avoid hot spices, alcohol, coffee, garlic.

Before each meal, drink half a teaspoon of ginger concoction prepared beforehand (peel 15 g of fresh ginger and cut into small pieces, put into a jar, pour lemon juice, add a teaspoon of cumin and a pinch of salt).

Advantages:

- it is a philosophy of life rather than a diet;

- the digestible foods proposed are valuable for everyone and will benefit everyone;

- well-being is very much related to what we eat.

Disadvantages: frequent drinking of a ginger-based drink will certainly not serve our health.
