Atkins diet weight loss - how do you lose weight?
Atkins diet for weight loss
I think everyone will agree with the statement that the products most discouraged by dietitians are the tastiest - in other words, what is banned is the most tempting thing. Who among us does not like cream sauces, whipped cream, lamb's hind legs, greasy bacon.....Anyone who does not want to give up large amounts of protein and fats in their food and at the same time wants to drop unnecessary kilograms, should read the information on the Atkins diet, which we present below.
Simply put, the main principle of the nutritional program discussed here is the consumption of fat, because it allows us to lose.... the fat lying in our bodies. How is this possible at all?
Dr Atkins concluded that fats should account for 60% of the daily calorific dose. At the same time, it is extremely important to reduce carbohydrates. As a result, the excess fat accumulated in our body is burned. Not without significance is the fact that the use of the Atkins diet leads to changes in the metabolic process and a slight acidification of the blood. This significantly reduces our appetite for hunger.
Of course, the Atkins Plan is also associated with certain restrictions. For a period of 14 days we must avoid starch-containing vegetables, cereal products (including bread), fruit, milk and yoghurt. The most stringent is the first of three dietary stages. Carbohydrate intake should be limited to 20 grams per day.
This will certainly reward us for allowing us to eat any kind of meat, fish and poultry, as well as seafood, eggs and mildew cheese. The first phase is followed by the second stage, when we enter more and more carbohydrates into the menu (up to 50 grams per day). Our menu allows for more vegetables, berries and nuts. The next stage is no longer a typical diet, but a diet that can be used for the rest of life.
Sample menus for the first phase of Atkins' diet
Lunch: various types of sausages, poultry broth, roast chicken with pig iron, mineral water without gasDinner: steak, salad with vinegret sauce, whipped cream without added sugar.
Snacks: cured meats, tea and mineral water
During the application of this scheme, we eat three main meals a day. Two snacks are also permitted. Dr. Atkins assures that by using a diet without any concessions you can drop up to two kilos a week and, most importantly, you can easily maintain your new weight. However, since the effect of this method on the body is still not fully scientifically confirmed, it is worth consulting a doctor before its use, who will precisely determine whether there are any contraindications to its use.
Principles of the Atkins diet
The author of this diet is the American doctor Robert C. Atkins, who is the founder and director of the Complementary Medicine Centre in New York. In his opinion, in order to effectively fight obesity and overweight, it is not necessary to reduce the amount of food.It is enough to reduce the consumption of carbohydrates, a basic energy fuel, and thus force the body to burn the accumulated fat. During the 2 week diet, you do not eat bread, cereal products, starch-containing vegetables, yoghurt, milk and fruit. Daily menus may not contain more than 20 g of carbohydrates.
Meat, meats, sausages, fish and eggs can be eaten in food for hunger, but must not be combined with carbohydrate products. Since the diet drastically reduces the amount of fruit and vegetables consumed, vitamin and mineral preparations should be taken during its use.
An example:
Breakfast:
Eggs or eggs planted with bacon, ham or sausage, decaffeinated coffee or tea.
Lunch:
Cured meats, roasted or fried chicken, poultry broth, small portion of pig iron, still mineral water.
Dinner:
Pâté made of chicken livers, steak, pig iron with vinegret sauce, whipped cream without sugar.
During the day:
Cured meats as snacks, mineral water, unsweetened coffee, tea.
How is the Atkins diet phenomenon explained?
How do you explain why people who derive more than a quarter of their daily calorie intake from saturated animal fat do not end up having a heart attack or stroke? Well, saturated fat is only deposited in the vessels and blocks blood flow when you eat large amounts of carbohydrates along with it. When they are absent - it is burnt without unpleasant consequences such as atherosclerosis.
You lose more weight on the Atkins diet and the weight loss restores the correct cholesterol ratio. The very fact of losing weight on such a calorific diet is explained by the fact that the Atkins diet is filling. Indeed, proteins and fats allow you to enjoy a feeling of satiety for longer.
It has been shown that a meal made up of carbohydrates causes the body to release insulin, which in turn rapidly lowers blood sugar levels, giving the brain an insatiable signal. And the body's protein-burning products additionally suppress the feeling of hunger, provided, of course, that they are relatively plentiful, otherwise (i.e. on a standard diet) there is no such effect.
