The American diet recommends a gradual reduction in both the amount and size of food consumed. Each week you can reduce your intake by around 200 calories. Once you have achieved satisfactory results in losing weight, it is advisable to systematically increase the energy value you provide to your body by eating successive meals. This approach to dieting minimises the risk of the otherwise undesirable yoyo effect.

How to follow the American diet
In its original version, the American diet should be followed for five days, during which you can lose as much as 5 kilograms, while in the extended version, it is recommended to follow its recommendations for approximately three weeks, during which you lose up to 7 kilograms.
The American diet excludes or limits the consumption of animal fats, fatty meats, meat and full-fat dairy products. All meals should be cooked, stewed or grilled. It is advisable to cook them in such a way as to reduce the risk of putting on weight afterwards.
Completely forbidden in the Hollywood diet are sweets, white sugar, salt, milk and dairy products with a high fat content. Nutritionists recommend the consumption of whole-grain bread, lean meat, sprouts, bran, yeast, lean dairy and fish.

5-day diet
First meal - black coffee and a triangle of processed cheese,
Second meal - hard boiled egg with tomato,
Third meal - large apple,
Fourth meal - 20 dag cottage cheese with peppers and cucumber,
Fifth meal - a glass of red wine.
It is recommended to drink plenty of still mineral water every day.
Basic diet - lasting three weeks

Medium piece of grilled meat, slice of wholemeal bread, chopped onion mixed with half a glass of sprouts.

A cup of skim natural yoghurt with bran.

Salad of Chinese cabbage, tomato, peas, cucumber, sprinkled with bran.
Before bed

Side effects of the American diet
As well as its undeniable advantages, the American diet also has some disadvantages. One of these is the need to strictly adhere to the set times for eating individual meals.
In addition, people who are active in sport, have busy lifestyles and are used to eating frequently may not be able to cope with the recommendation to limit the daily calorie intake to 1200-1500 kcal.
