How to take care of your gums to have healthy teeth?

The biggest threat to teeth is gum disease. When gums bleed, it is the first signal that they need more attention. A neglected condition can lead to tooth loss.

According to dental research, half of adults and one third of teenagers have problems with gums. However, most people believe that these diseases are genetic, so there is no way they can change this. Meanwhile, scientists prove that proper oral hygiene helps to prevent gum disease and tooth disease.

Gum diseases: where they come from

Oral cavity is an environment in which bacteria multiply. In combination with saliva and food debris, germs settle on the enamel, forming plaque. If the platelet is not removed regularly, it accumulates on the teeth, irritating gums and causing swelling and bleeding.

The untreated infection spreads to the periodontium, i. e. the tissues holding teeth in the jaw. On the other hand, the unremoved plaque, with the elapse of time, is mineralized and transformed into stone, which more and more enters the gums and repels them from the tooth. In this way, the teeth may be weakened and eventually lost. In this way, the cause of the defect is usually caused by poor oral hygiene.

Symptoms of gum disease

The symptoms of gums are usually not unnoticeable. The first symptom that should light a red light in the head is bleeding. It appears mostly during tooth brushing, but it can also occur spontaneously when touching the gums with your tongue. The gums are sick: they are reddish and swelling.

But also feel: illnesses are usually accompanied by an unpleasant mouth smell. In addition, gums are sore and sensitive to temperature changes. When the disease is already at an advanced stage, the gum line is lowered and the teeth appear longer. Then, a purulent discharge may occur, which occurs when the gums are pressed. It is actually the last moment for saving teeth.
