Diet in the irritable bowel syndrome
Irritable bowel syndrome is characterized by pain and / or discomfort in the abdomen, bloating, change in frequency of bowel movements and stool consistency. The diarrhea can occur alternating with constipation. Pain, discomfort and bloating often subside after a bowel movement. Typical symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome are identified by the physician, however, do not necessarily occur simultaneously or can occur in other embodiments.Improper diet can aggravate symptoms. For this reason, it is helpful to modify the form dependent on the feeding and the period of disease, which may reduce the number of symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. It depends on the individual elimination of certain foods worsening symptoms. These include flatulence products: onion, garlic, corn, sweet potatoes, eggs, boiled cabbage, dry legumes, and sometimes beef and citrus fruits.
In some patients are intolerant to milk sugar - lactose. Therefore, the consumption of milk and other dairy products is the severity of symptoms: bloating, diarrhea. Should be excluded milk, cheese, yogurt and other foods containing milk.
It is also a reduction or total exclusion from the diet of natural coffee and strong tea, because caffeine contained in them or caffeine increases muscle contractility small and large intestine and thus exacerbate symptoms. For the same reason it is recommended to avoid strong drink.
During diarrhea must use low residual diet by limiting the consumption of products containing vegetable fibers- less than 10 g dietary fiber per day. During constipation recommended to drink at least 1.5 liters, and non-carbonated liquids residual rich diet containing at least 30-50 g of plant fibers. Such a diet increases stool weight, accelerates the passage of gastric contents through the gastrointestinal tract and improves its consistency, and thus facilitates and accelerates the stool. It is recommended to increase swallowed raw fruit (especially stone fruits) and vegetables high in fiber, increase the consumption of coarse grits, oatmeal, whole-wheat bread, granola, Appendix 3 tablespoons of wheat bran to your daily diet. Should be soaked in milk, yogurt, kefir or juice.
